A BIT ABOUT ME

A BIT ABOUT ME

Born on the 25th October 1973, at the Memorial Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia. Opposite the historic Adelaide Oval, known widely in and around the cricket world.

I am the son of my mother Margo and my father Peter, and am the brother of my sister Jacqui. Both my mothers and fathers families are quite huge, my mothers side is Australian and my fathers side is Austrian. A lot of my family say I look like my grandpa (my fathers dad), whom I never met. Thank goodness I don’t look like his father my great grandpa, only because he looked like Hitler.

At a very early age we moved from Ascot Park to Salisbury North, where I spent all of my years growing up. I went to two schools firstly Direk primary school, then after primary school, I went to Paralowie R-12 High School. I was a kid who mainly kept to him self and didn’t mix with any other kids outside school. I was very shy as a child, and as a teenager. I am still a little shy today but does not show. I started to lose my shyness, I guess just after I started playing baseball at the Woodville Baseball Club, and shortly after doing Amway. Go ahead laugh! But going to the weekly meetings, monthly seminars etc, listening to tapes and reading the books, all helped me personally, and today am a better person because of it.

As a child growing up, we never went without things, but we never got everything, the other kids were getting, we weren’t bad off meaning poor, and we weren’t rich. I must say we had a strict bringing up, which me and sister hated, but are thankful today.

We weren’t and were travelers at my young age, we would make a yearly vacation to either Horsham, or Port Broughton, or up the river to Hogwash Bend. One year we drove up to Coffs Harbour to visit family and then down to Wagga Wagga to spray my grand dads ashes of his mothers grave. At eleven years of age my father took my sister and I for a holiday to London then Austria, to see his family. The funny thing is I almost never went, I was in grade six at the time, I was young, and liked school at the time, and we had a competition in our class called ‘maths ball’ that I was leading the competition, and I didn’t want to go away for six weeks and miss winning it. Anyway it took my father talking to my teacher Mr Edmonds, and then Mr Edmonds talking to me, and I went to Europe. That trip to Europe at a young age was a eye opener for me, which probably gave me the travelling bug. If I didn’t go on that trip nothing what I have achieved or done, probably would not have happened, and don’t know what my life would be like today. I did go on one further major vacation with my father after that, and that was when my uncle Fritz came to Australia from Austria, I was sixteen and in grade ten and took six weeks off school, and we drove to and around north eastern Australia and central Australia.

I can remember as a teenager coming out of school, writing and sending away to the British consulate in Canberra for a passport application. Nothing ever went ahead because I didn’t qualify to hold a UK passport. Not knowing that someday in the near future I was going to live in London for a short while. I don’t know what drew me to applying for a citizenship back then. Maybe it was the accent, maybe it was the sexy English girls, and by the way, I thought it back then and still stick to it today, that English girls are the most sexiest on this planet.

So, I wanted and dreamt about living in London back then, so obviously dreams do come true. As Rachel Hunter once said “ it wont happen over night, b
